A little party never killed nobody 🥳

The Wedding Nest is a deceiving name for everything this business encompasses. Yes, we love weddings – the planning, the decorating, the love! However, The Wedding Nest is a business that does so much more than just weddings.

If you’re lucky you may get ONE wedding in your lifetime. Or maybe I shouldn’t say “lucky” but you choose to have one wedding, while others may get to experience more than one or none at all – it gets to be a complicated subject. Either way, I’m here to say, The Wedding Nest does more.

Baby Showers

Anniversary Parties

Birthday Parties

Holiday Parties

Vendor Shows

Reunions

…the options are endless.

How many of these parties are you attending, planning or stressing over each year? Probably more than you’d like to admit. Keep in mind – you don’t have to hire an event coordinator to make sure your day runs smoothly. You have all the ability to make it happen on your own….although, I won’t stop you from hiring one 😉

To host a well-designed event, there’s a basic check list that you should start with.

1. Create a budget

  • It’s okay if your budget is little to nothing. It’s still good to note.

2. Pick a date

  • What works with the group of family, friends and those planning to attend?

3. Create a guest list

  • Reflect on what your budget says – maybe it’s a bigger group and they’re paying to help make it happen, a small group to fit a small budget or even a big group to accommodate a bigger budget

4. Set the theme

  • Not all parties need a theme, but I’m a strong believer that it helps set the tone. From matching napkins to music and printed signs – having a theme or color makes decisions one notch easier.

5. Choose a location

  • If you’re having a one year old birthday party, the location could be as simple as your living room. However, if you are having a party and inviting 52 people, making sure a location that will fit your guests is important!

    • Does it hold the guest list?

    • Is it in the budget?

    • Does it have necessary accommodations – heat, A/C, AV, catering, etc?

6. Set the menu

  • The menu could be the cheapest options, it could be set because of your theme or it could be a few of your favorite things

7. Send invites

  • Tell your guests who, what, where, when and why… this could be a text message, a social media invite or a printed invitation.

8. Plan games and activities + music

  • Keep it simple or spice it up, you decide.

9. Find the décor

  • This is where I come in – adding in décor for any event is a great, easy way to pull the event together and feel different than your average dinner with the family.

10. Clean up!

  • Ugh. Need I say more?

Let’s talk décor for a moment. When it comes to renting décor from me, it’s a piece by piece basis. If you want one or 10, they’re individually priced and very versatile.

A few of the most popular items are pictured throughout this post and can be rented for your next event. Whether it’s a birthday party, reunion or holiday party – how you “style” each of these pieces can create a completely different look and pull your event together perfectly.

Now.. what’s next? Let’s talk about your next party or reunion!

Happy Planning!
