Building your Registry

If you’re the guest at the big event, you want to give the best, most memorable gift for the newlyweds, while also staying within your budget. However, as a couple, you just want the guests to stick to the registry that you worked so hard to put together. When asked The Wedding Nest community, we came up with a list of some of the best gifts received in their perspective.

As the couple, you’re already stressed about finding the perfect dress, the right flowers, the best food – but now you’re asked to put together a list of all the things you want? It sounds like a dream come true, but it can actually be incredibly overwhelming. When creating your best registry, there’s a few key pointers that you want to remember as you compile it all.

1.     Make it your own: Customized gifts are so popular, but incredibly overdone. If you put a few “personal” items on your registry, it gives guests the ability to buy you something they know is perfect for YOU without receiving ten custom signs that say your last name. For example, whatever your hobby may be - working out, hunting, golfing, cooking, etc. – be sure to add those items, too! It doesn’t only have to be new towels and new dishes.

2.     Provide items for all price ranges: Sometimes guests want to spend $25, but sometimes guest have a much larger budget. For example, some people will combine their gifts and get a big-ticket item for you. Providing gifts of every price range allows the guest to feel like they can make their gift for you more custom for you and their budget.

3.     Don’t be afraid to state that you’d like money for your honeymoon or something important to you. Not everyone wants new blankets, towels and dishes. That’s okay, too! Guests want to give you things you want and things you need. If you ask for money, their presence or gift cards, that ensures that you get what you want and makes it easy on the guests!

In alphabetical order, The Wedding Nest community compiled some of their favorite gifts from their wedding day – from this year to 10+ years ago. It’s fun to see what people enjoy, but also spark ideas for your own registry.
