Promposal?

It doesn’t matter what the proposal is for – it should always be a big deal.

Usually I’m sharing about Wedding Proposals, we are The Wedding Nest, but with national proposal day around the corner as well as promposals happening more frequently than ever, I thought sharing more about proposals would be fun.

For weddings, the proposal is the biggest step in a relationship. You’re committing to a life together. Brides.com lists 5 things to do before your propose:

  1. Make sure you’re on the same page

  2. Chat with your partner’s family

  3. Buy the ring

  4. Know what you want to say

  5. Plan the celebration

Promposals are a much, much smaller scale version, but unique nonetheless. In the last five years, these “asks” have become more and more elaborate. A promposal is a special act or presentation to ask someone to prom – or a special event like prom, such as homecoming. Apparently just texting someone “wanna go to prom?” isn’t the best way to do it anymore, but what do I know, it’s been 10 years since I went to prom.

As if the hair, ride and dinner weren’t stressful enough, now we have to make sure the ask is one to remember…however, it seems the high schoolers have stepped up to the challenge and really set the standards.

Let’s talk ideas! Sports, food, animals, movies and more... there’s a “theme” for everyone. Does your date enjoy something specific – shoes, snacks, sports? Maybe there’s something that is a joke between you both or bonds you?

If anyone is thinking about asking me to prom – I’m not saying no to a proposal with food.

  • This maybe CHEESY, but will you go to prom with me?

  • Roses are red, DONUTS are the bomb. Would you do me a favor and come with me to prom?

  • I’d be one lucky NUGGET if you’d go to prom with me!

But how could you resist this adorable face?

  • Prom would be RUFF without you.

  • It’d be UDDERLY wonderful if you’d go to prom with me.

What about their favorite movie?

  • There’s no place like Prom. Will you go with me?

  • Are you UP for Prom with me?

  • Mickey needs Minnie, Tigger needs Pooh, I’d be miserable and prom without you!

Lastly, maybe they’re just that creative like these guys.

  • I know you’re puzzled, but will you go to prom with me?

  • Will you LIFT my spirits at prom?

With ideas and standards like this, it’s safe to say the wedding proposal game just got stepped up. Wedding proposals can be over the top, elaborate, but also show a lot of emotion and have the opportunity to be very simple and intimate.

Share your best promposals or your wedding proposal story with me on social media!

XOXO
